General Guidelines for Symposium Organizers, Session Chairs, and Authors

Minisymposia

  • Minisymposia will consist of one or more consecutive sessions, depending on the number of papers accepted.

Presentations and Sessions - Tentative!

  • We are currently planning for 25-minute paper presentations, including questions/answers and laptop exchange at the podium. The duration of paper presentations may change slightly before the Congress, depending on the number of papers accepted for presentation, overall.
  • Keynote presentations may be double-length: 50 minutes including questions/answers. These presentations shall be planned by the mini-symposium organizers. A keynote presentation should be placed at the beginning of a session.
  • Plenary presentations are scheduled for 40 minutes and 10 minutes for questions/answers. Plenaries will be held the morning of M,T,R,F.
  • Nominally, paper sessions will consist of 5 presentations, for a total length of 125 minutes (two hours and five minutes). The duration of sessions may change slightly before the Congress, depending on the number of papers accepted for presentation at the Congress.
  • One paper session will be held in the morning of M,T,W,R,F and two paper sessions will be held in the afternoon of M,T,R only. We are currently planning no afternoon sessions on W and F.
  • Session chairs and authors should adhere rigorously to the published schedule. If a speaker does not show up, the session chair should call for a break until the following presentation begins.

Limits on the number of Presentations and Papers

  • A registrant may give no more than two presentations at the Congress, even if more than two abstracts are submitted.
  • A well balanced symposium has a broad representation of research groups. The symposium organizers are encouraged to limit multiple papers coming out of any one research group in a given symposium (use proper discretion).

Inclusion of Papers in the Proceedings

  • Online pre-registration of a speaker for each paper will be required for the paper to appear in the proceedings.

Format of Papers

  • Draft abstracts of up to 400 words are required for initial review (text only). Once these are accepted for presentation, authors need to upload their final abstract.
  • Final abstracts are uploaded as PDF files. These can be up to two pages long and may include text, tables, and graphics. A PDF file of the final abstract must be uploaded by the author even if no changes have been done to the draft abstract.
  • Submission deadlines and uploading instructions are available from the main menu.

Social Program

  • The Welcome Reception will be held Monday evening.
  • The Banquet will be held Wednesday evening.
  • Several tours of the surrounding area are being planned for accompanying persons.
