| Guidelines for Conversion to PDF |
In order to create a PDF document you must have the full version of the Adobe Acrobat software (not just the Reader portion).
We recommend the use of Acrobat 4.0 and higher because this version will automatically embed all fonts used in the author's file. Using an earlier version of Acrobat may result in some mis-conversion of math and special characters if the fonts are not Type 1 and embedded in the document. If you are using Acrobat 3.0 or higher, you can make minor editorial corrections to the PDF document. Please note, however, that you can only revise existing material (typos, etc.) through the Touch Up Text tool (the icon is a large T) - not insert new text or missing material. If you are using Microsoft Office 2000 and have the full version of Acrobat (4.0 and higher), you can convert a Word document to PDF automatically by clicking on the Adobe icon in the top left corner of the toolbar. IMPORTANT NOTE: Please check the new PDF document against your original document to ensure a successful conversion: the technical integrity of the document must be intact. We recommend viewing the new PDF on a different machine from the one that created it, preferably one with different fonts. This way you will be able to spot any font errors. |
